How Color Effects People

Emily Landen, after a pilgrimage to several third world countries remarked: the children were so malnourished that it made me physically ill to continue to be around them daily.

This is a brief glimpse of how ones surroundings can affect not only a persons physiological health but their physical health as well.

Color makes up our surroundings and these shades of many colors can affect our beings. But before we can discuss how these colors affect us, we need to scrutinize each color and determines what each color represents independently.

The spectrum of white light when dispersed with the aid of a prism, will yield seven different colours, called ROYGBIV,an acronym for red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet.

The mistake most people make is associating the color blue with healing. This is false. Green is the color of harmony and balance, and it is also the universal color of healing. Ancient Egyptians and Chinese used green as the primary color for healing.

Why green out of the lot? May be because it falls midway in the color spectrum, but definitely due to the fact that it contains both physical and spiritual natures. Green is the color of Nature and the Earth.

The color can be used for just about any condition in need of healing. When in doubt, green will always work, and it is a good color for pregnant women to help create an atmosphere of serenity and calm.

Blue lies on the opposite end of the visible spectrum of white light and comes right next after green, but it is a powerful color. Dr Babbitt in his classic book- “The healing power of colors” described blue as one of the greatest antiseptics in the world.

More diseases are treated by blue light than by any other color, which is not surprising considering that cosmic power in our system is cold blue. It is a very positive color indicating loyalty and reliability. And it is also the color of truth, serenity and harmony, by helping soothe the mind.

Blue is good for cooling, calming and protecting. It helps feverish conditions and nervous irritations, but too much of blue could leave you cold, depressed and sorrowful.

Indigo is the higher aspect of blue, so it will have all the attribute of the color of truth, and with a bonus too- it is very good for the head. It will clear a congested head to allow a clearer path for the conscious to the spiritual self. Too much of indigo however could give you a headache and it could make you very drowsy.

Violet is another spiritual color. It is good for mental and nervous problems. It is also an excellent color for healing rheumatism and epilepsy as it helps heal the bone, and it is used in deep tissue work. Too much of the color and you don’t tend to live in this world.

How about the all important white? It is the perfect color, because all other colors springs out of white. It is the color of the awakened spirit, the light of perfection, the color of Christ’s consciousness, and it is also the divine light. White is the color of purity as it purifies the body on the highest levels, and it is the best reliever of pain.

And black? Well, because it is often associated with tragedy and death, it is a color that is not used very often. However, black helps bring a person to a state of grace, and help to reach the silence and peace of God.

Lastly, the colors of the most coveted item by women – jewelry, are particularly useful. Silver is the color of peace and persistence. It is the major purging color, so it is very good for removing diseases and troubles from the body.

And the king of them all- Gold. It is fittingly the strongest color to help cure all illnesses; it is so strong that many people are not able to tolerate it. So people have to be conditioned to gold over a period of time. Gold strengthens all fields of the body and spirit.
