Millions of people are looking for natural ways to ease the pain of their headaches.
The number of migraine headache suffers is huge. In fact, more than 25,000,000 people will have a migraine headache at one time or another. Thankfully, however, researchers have studied natural things that can be done to overcome the irritating pain and provide long term relief.
What pain relief alternatives do you have? Aside from vomiting or taking dangerous pain killer drugs, the only alternative most people know of is finding a dark place to lay down and suffer it out. And thats about it.
If you’ve ever had a migraine, you’re clear about what I’m saying.
If you’ve had more than one migraine, you’ve had to develop your own personal way to handle them.
Though no one knows for sure, most migraine headaches seem to be caused by glandular imbalances, stress or tension, various foods like chocolate, alcohol and caffeine, food colorings and additives like MSG and various medications like birth control pills. By removing these migraine triggers, you’ll find that the frequency of your headaches drops drastically.
The next thing you can do for yourself to prevent migraines is to improve your eating habits. Your goal is to remove all of the packaged and refined foods and replace them with good natural whole foods.
So what should you be eating? A whole food diet consists of whole wheat, brown rice, and natural soy. Dont be fooled by white rice, enriched wheat, and GMO soy. These refined or genetically altered foods give you absolutely no nutrition and can do you body more harm than good.
A whole food diet also includes daily servings of colorful fruits and veggies.
This doesnt include things like fruit juices or fruit roll-ups, which are all sugar, or iceberg lettuce, potatoes, bananas or apples. And, although theyre good for other things, they contain little to no beneficial phytonutrients like carotenoids, flavonoids or cruciferous compounds.
Your whole food diet should also include low fat dairy (like yogurt and cheese), free range eggs, lean chicken and fatty fish.
The most important area to focus on if you want relief from migraine pain, is the area of fatty fish. This includes salmon, tuna, sardines, mackerel and anchovies. They’re rich in the omega 3 fatty acids that have been proven to decrease both the pain and frequency of migraines. So, you need to eat at least 3-5 servings of fatty fish a week.
If you can’t manage to get 3-5 servings of fatty fish a week, you need to include a pure fish oil supplement to your daily routine.
Researchers are finding that pure fish oil has amazing natural anti-inflammatory properties. If you take your fish oils supplements regularly, there’s a very good chance that you’ll see an immediate reduction in the frequency and severity of your migraines.
You may even find that if you take some fish oil just as you feel a migraine coming on, that you may be able to stop it from becoming full blown.
So get yourself on a whole food diet that includes plenty of fatty fish or a fish oil supplement and you’ll be amazed at how good you feel. Migraines will be a thing of the past!
