Ahh, supplements, how they have changed the muscle building world. 50 years ago, there were men who posessed god like physiques and they didn’t have access to any supplements. They had to rely on blood and guts to achieve their goals.
These days though, things are a little different. You don’t have to get very far in a bodybuilding magazine or speak to muscle building enthusiasts for long before the topic of supplements come up. Some people swear by them, claiming them to be responsible for remarkable results, others swear that they are useless, claiming that they got where they are because of hard work.
So who to believe I’m going to outline the story with supplements right now. The word supplement is obviously forgotten by some people. It should not be replacing your diet or training regime. Using the right supplements in the right way can yield great results, but 99% of gym goers are getting this wrong.
Ok, so here are the list of supplements that get my tick of approval as the Best Muscle Building Supplements. The first off the mark is whey protein. This is well known by most muscle builders and with good reason. While it doesn’t have any magical abilities, it certainly is one of the best muscle building supplements. I like it for 2 main reasons. The first is that it is very convenient. Instead of cooking up half a cow, you can mix some powder with some milk and you have an instant, tasty and healthy meal.
The second reason is that whey protein is very easily absorbed into the body. This makes it ideal for post workout meals, because you can drink it and rest assured that the nutrients are heading straight to your hungry muscles.
Another one of the best muscle building supplements is creatine. It’s been around for a while and has been shown to be a proven winner. I’m not going to go into how it works (perhaps I will in a future article) but basically, it will make you absorb more water and it will also increase your strength. Obviously this is a good thing. Not only will you look cooler in the gym (joke) but you will be able to move more weight and therefore be able to build more muscle.
The final supplement I’m going to mention in my Best Muscle Building Supplements is fish oil. Fish oil may not allow you to build monstrous biceps, but it is very handy none the less. I like it because it is a great source of fat. I personally find getting just the right amount of fat in my diet hard. Sure, nuts are good to eat, but there are so many nuts you can eat before getting bored.
There are a few more supplements that may be worth their asking price, but as a rule of thumb, if a supplement promises the world, chances are that it won’t, so you can probably steer clear. But now you know which supplements are the best for muscle building, you can feel a lot more confident when opening up your wallet.
