Used Digital Camera Lens; Caring and Maintenance

Having a used digital camera does not mean that you do not have to care for it. If you want to maintain the livid pictures that your camera can produce, the lens is one of the parts that you need to care for the most.

Your used digital camera lens will not work as effectively if it is exposed to dust and particles. You will find that even some finger prints on these lenses will not give you the quality pictures that the camera is known for. But with cautious handling and regular cleaning, you can maintain the digital camera lens and have it working as good as any other.

Follow some simple steps on how to care for your used digital camera lens so that you are assured it will work effectively for you for a long time.

1. Avoid lens contact.

As much as possible, avoid any contact with the lens. This includes touching or brushing into and placing it in places where there are an abundance of dusts and other particles. Hard surfaces can also cause damage to the lens. To make sure that your lens does not come into contact with these things, always remember to place them in a bag. This can definitely avoid any damage to your used digital camera lens.

Give extra care when you are using the camera and shooting pictures. Always remember that the digital camera lens is very vulnerable to anything that might get near it.

2. Keep the lens dry at all times.

Moisture does not come in the form of water only. It could be caused by the air, your breath and other sources that will make your lens fog. Once this happens, the housing of the lens becomes warped.

Keep this in mind always when you are shooting whether indoors or outdoors. There are sources of moisture everywhere. Better to have a cloth or other scrap in handy in case there is a moisture build up in your lens.

3. Use cloth when wiping the lens.

A microfiber cloth that is dry is the best thing to wipe your lens with. You can buy some cleaning fluids that are made especially for digital camera lens. This is the fluid that is applied to the cloth when wiping the lens clean.

It is not advisable to put the fluid directly into the camera lens. Moreover, other forms of glass cleaners should not be used for digital camera lens. Go for the fluid that is dictated in the manuals or those that are suggested by digital camera experts.

4. Remove particles from the lens without touching.

You can use a special dust blower or an ear syringe if you want to remove particles from the lens. If you are using a brush, choose those with soft bristles to avoid scratching the surface.

Check if the cleaner you are using is clean also.

5. UV filters.

Try to have a UV filter put into your used digital camera lens to serve as an additional protection. This is especially needed if you will be shooting in extremely hot environments.

Caring for your used digital camera lens is as easy as keeping it clean at all times and having additional protection ready when needed. Even if you do not have a brand new camera with me, you probably would want it to keep working perfectly for the longest time.
